Everything you need to know about Porcelain Veneers

Discover The Power of Your Smile at Raby Road!

At Raby Road Dental, we proudly offer porcelain veneers as a treatment option. Veneers are a very thin porcelain sleeve that fits precisely over the visible surface of the teeth. In this blog post, we will explore what porcelain veneers are, how they work, and factors to consider when choosing this as a treatment option!

Using state-of-the-art technology, Emax veneers have been created, combining optimal aesthetics and high strength. Emax veneers can restore the colour, surface, shape, and alignment of the teeth. They are typically made of either porcelain or composite resin material. Porcelain veneers are popular because they are strong, durable, and have a natural-looking appearance.

Veneers can be used to correct a wide variety of cosmetic dental issues, such as discolouration, chips, gaps, misalignment, and more. The process for getting porcelain veneers starts with evaluating a patient’s teeth and discussing their goals for the veneers. Then, we will take an impression of the teeth and send it to a dental lab. The lab will use the impression to design and craft the custom veneers.

The process is minimally invasive, and the procedure has short treatment times and can typically be finished in two appointments. The first appointment is to reshape your teeth, take impressions and place your temporary veneers, whilst yours are handcrafted. These temporary veneers are in the shape of your smile design, so they still, look amazing. Two weeks later your veneers are ready to be fitted!

Emax veneers typically only require a minimal reduction of 0.5mm to the front of the tooth in order to be placed and in some cases, no tooth preparation is required at all. You do not have to worry about having your teeth shaved down, if minimal tooth reduction is necessary, we use a smile design to ensure that it is as minimal as possible.

Once the veneers are in place, we will check the fit and make any necessary adjustments. It is important to note that porcelain veneers are permanent and cannot be removed or replaced once they are placed.

It is good to know that veneers will not protect teeth from decay or cavities. It is still important to brush and floss regularly and visit the dentist for regular check-ups. Porcelain veneers are a great option for those looking to improve the appearance of their teeth. They can help make teeth look whiter and straighter and can help correct a wide variety of cosmetic issues. Porcelain is a ceramic, hardwearing, stain resistant and last 10-15 years, as long as you take good care of your veneers and have regular check-ups!

It is important to discuss the pros and cons of the procedure with your dentist in order to make sure that porcelain veneers are the right choice for you.
